Private collection on sale at 101 Art Gallery

The sale of a distinguished gentleman’s private collection and other properties will take place at 101 Art Gallery, 84 Woodford Street in Newtown, Port of Spain, from April 30 to May 7.
The exhibition will feature works by Michel Jean Cazabon and other notable artists such as Boscoe and Geoffrey Holder, Carlisle Chang and Ken Morris, as well as Agostino Brunias, James Lushington Wildman, Pat Bishop and Lisa O’Connor, according to a statement. Press.
On Cazabon’s coins it was written: “In the midst of the second great project of reclamation of Port of Spain, during the 1840s and 1850s, which further extended the principal city of Trinidad into the Gulf of Paria, one of its famous landmarks, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, was in the final stages of its development, with a total duration of construction ranging from 1816 to 1851. At one time it stood roughly on the shore: the beach was about 200 yards away and – apparently as if to maintain the coastal vibe, there was later a tall palm tree standing practically at the entrance to the cathedral.”
The press release indicates that the building appears in two watercolors by Michel Jean Cazabon, Catholic Cathedral, Port of Spain (in detail and up close) and Expedition off Port of Spain (from afar, from the Gulf).

There will be nearly 200 objects on display, these are works that were once part of private spaces and are now on public display and available for purchase, the statement said.
The official opening takes place on April 30 and May 1, with opening hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Daily hours during the remainder of the event will be 12-6 p.m. until the final day, May 7.
