Outdoor art sale scheduled for March 20
Local artists, who have been limited over the past year in their ability to showcase and sell their work in person, will be able to do so on Saturday, March 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at an open-air art sale. air. The event will take place in the plaza outside the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. The Neighboring Sierra Arts Foundation partnered with the Pioneer Center to produce the event.
“These creators are our neighbors, friends and family, and their ability to continue to create depends on people’s access to their work,” said Tracey Oliver, Executive Director of the Sierra Arts Foundation. “We’re starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel, but we still want to make sure the community doesn’t lose sight of those who fill our lives with life and color. “
Organizers say the outdoor nature of the event will make it more accessible to the community while still meeting social distancing guidelines. Wearing a mask will also be compulsory.
Artists already confirmed for the event include painter Bryce Chisholm, recycling jeweler April Kasper and magnet and souvenir artist Cathy Ashworth. The local carpentry group Nevada Woodchucks has also signed up.
While there are already registered painters, sculptors, photographers and other artists, organizers say the number of artists at the event may increase further.
