Memories: Thrift Shop art sale on Saturdays; nominations for the volunteer awards are open

Annual returns from the Thrift Shop art sale

The Aspen thrift store will be holding its annual art sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Red Brick Center for the Arts.

There will be a preview (no purchase or reservation) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.

The annual thrift store art sale, in its seventh edition, has become a summer staple in Aspen and offers a chance to view and purchase some of the many items donated by the community of Aspen to the thrift store in over the past year.

Donors give the Thrift Shop more art and artifacts than can be displayed, and the Art Sale is the Thrift Shop’s point of sale to present these pieces to the public over a weekend.

This year’s sale will feature local pieces, with works signed by well-known and collectible artists including Tom Benton and Gino Hollander, as well as vintage posters of Aspen from the music festival, the international design conference of Aspen and other events. There will be silent auction items and coins for all prices – posters, prints and decorative items of all kinds, as well as books and other items.

All proceeds will go to Aspen Thrift Shop grants to nonprofits in the valley. For more than 70 years, the Aspen Thrift Shop has donated to dozens of nonprofits of all kinds, working within the Roaring Fork Valley community.

Attendees will be asked to wear masks inside the Red Brick sales room, located at 110 E. Hallam St.
