Meet & Greet with Country Stars, Dine with the Mayor: Bidding Ends Tonight – DiscoverWeyburn.com
Today is the last day for the Weyburn Young Fellows Online Auction.
Some of the biggest tickets include barbecues and dinner with Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy.
Auction organizer Shane Warner said a few of the items they added last week might be of interest to last-minute bidders.
“There are Meet & Greets with Hunter Brothers and Tenille Arts that would be happening at our centennial concert,” he shared, noting that those items were added a week after the auction, “so probably not as many views of some of the items that were not for the duration of the auction.”
He said there were two of each, four people who could participate in the Meet & Greet.
Regarding the highest bidders, Warner said, “One of the hottest items every year is used tubing, people use it to make farming items. Dinner with Mayor Roy is coming up.”
The same goes for barbecues and smokehouses, gym memberships and tickets to Saskatchewan Roughriders games.
“This is actually our 65th annual auction,” he said. “And at least in recent history, it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. It’s where we bring most of our funds that we can distribute to various community organizations. So it’s really great to see such great support.”
So far, the YF has exceeded its goal by a few thousand dollars.
“It’s always great to be able to say that we exceeded our target. So yeah, really happy about that, thank you all for the support, our donors and all the bidders,” he commented.
While many bidders eagerly await results when the auction closes at 7:00 p.m. tonight, Warner said some like to wait until the last minute.
“Last year a good chunk of the offers came on the last day. I think a lot of people want to see where things are moving and hopefully can get a deal done on something. So who knows where we’ll end up this year. Last year we exceeded our goal of $10,000.
Items will be invoiced at auction close and pickup will take place at the YF Treehouse (behind the Prairie Sky Co-op Grocery Store), Saturday and Sunday 10:00am-2:00pm.
“So at any time you can drop by, collect your items, and if you are unable to do so, then contact us, and we can make alternative arrangements.”
