After its launch in 2018, TX has pioneered the global taxi market, and with over a third of London’s licensed black cabs now the TX, London is the world leader in purpose-built, fully accessible electrified taxis.
The TX features a lightweight aluminum body and benefits from LEVC’s eCity range extender powertrain. This revolutionary technology allows the taxi to travel in fully electric mode for up to 64 miles. Offering unparalleled flexibility and zero range anxiety, TX has a total range of 318 miles and reduces NOx emissions by 99.5%. In the four years since its launch, the TX has prevented 109,000 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
Regardless of age, gender or disability, LEVC’s TX is an accessible and inclusive vehicle for everyone. Featuring flexible on-board space for up to six passengers, the vehicle includes a fully integrated wheelchair ramp and swivel seat, allowing the TX to accommodate a forward-facing wheelchair – the only taxi in this guy doing it.
When planning the TX, LEVC designers and engineers consulted with taxi drivers to create the most ergonomic and driver-centric cab ever, with state-of-the-art controls for ease of use. The TX has also transformed profitability for drivers and operators, with typical fuel savings of over £110 per week. The cab’s electric powertrain saved 61 million liters of fuel from burning, saving drivers a total of £91 million. With fuel prices at an all-time high, the TX demonstrates why the transition to electrified power makes perfect business sense for professional drivers.
Since hitting the streets, the 5,000 taxis have traveled a combined distance of around 307 million miles, equivalent to circumnavigating the globe 12,333 times. To date, over 2 million passenger journeys have been made in the TX electric taxi in London. Once through the limousine-like doors, passengers enjoy an exceptionally comfortable cabin, flooded with natural light thanks to a panoramic glass roof.
Joerg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC, commented: “Building on more than a century of industry experience, combined with state-of-the-art technology, LEVC has successfully developed the world’s most advanced taxi: the TX electric. Our 5,000th sale in London is a major milestone for the company and we are proud that our TX is making a significant contribution to improving urban air quality, as well as supporting drivers in the transition to a sustainable mobility.
“As a company, LEVC continues to go from strength to strength and in March we achieved record global sales for the TX and our VN5 minivan.”
Since 2014, parent company Geely has invested over £500m in LEVC, establishing a state-of-the-art R&D center and factory in Ansty, Coventry, where the TX taxi is built alongside the VN5 van. To learn more about LEVC’s TX, please visit www.levc.com
