Join our reuse revolution; shop and donate preloved in May

Dame Helen Mirren, former Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and DJ Gilles Peterson are just a few of the celebrities who took on our Reuse Revolution Challenge by donating favorite items to us in May.

Model Olivia Arben, TV presenter Gemma Atkinson and Dr. Hazel Wallace also donated favorite pieces, all of which could soon be hanging in the wardrobes of shoppers across the country.

Dame Helen Mirren, who leads a star-studded cast for a theatrical TV show marking the Queen’s platinum jubilee, donated a silk blouse, a pair of signed white high heels and a signed CD of music recorded to celebrate the jubilee. The shoes originally belonged to Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders.

The items will all be listed on our eBay store from Tuesday May 3, alongside pieces by former British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and model Olivia Arben. Bidding will be open for Alexandra Shulman’s Samantha Sung navy polka dot dress and Olivia Arben’s Maje dress and two Ralph Lauren dresses.

Our Reuse Revolution hopes to raise awareness of the incredible benefits of shopping and donating through its 700 national shops and eBay and Depop online stores – preventing good quality items from going to landfill and saving money while funding his vital heart research.

Allison Swaine-Hughes, Director of Retail at BHF, said: “What an amazing way to kick off our reuse revolution with the support of so many celebrities donating their pre-loved items. Our savvy shoppers can support the revolution by shopping online through our eBay store, bidding on fabulous Helen Mirren shoes or searching for a bargain at their local BHF stores. You might find a record or book signed by one of these famous names.

“Every item sold in our stores helps fund vital scientific breakthroughs that will help the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease.”

Fans of all things pre-loved can also enter a contest for a chance to win four stylish pre-owned pieces from the campaign photo shoot; a bronze double headed table lamp, an industrial style wooden cart, a round leather handle mirror and an orange art deco chair with wooden legs. The competition will be available to enter via the Reuse Revolution website from May 1st.

In one year, we save approximately 71,000 tons of scrap goods and, through the reuse and recycling of donated items, we help avoid the release of 135,000 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
