LOS ANGELES–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Locals and visitors alike will see colorful and charismatic characters getting on and off Hong Kong trams and the Star Ferry over the coming weeks. These stunning artistic creations by international pop art duo FriendsWithYou (US-based Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III) are an imaginative partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to promote the “Hong Kong Neighborhoods – West Kowloon” program. HKTB also recorded the adventures in an action-packed video collection giving those who cannot currently visit Hong Kong the chance to share the excitement of its world-class attractions.
Through this series of online flash mob videos, interactive augmented reality experiences and gigantic art installations, the happy characters take international audiences on a virtual journey through Hong Kong. The videos bring world-famous attractions to life, highlighting the incredible diversity of the artistic elements of West Kowloon and encouraging people from near and far to explore Hong Kong artistically and culturally.
Samuel and Arturo shared: “We are delighted to present our latest art collection, Happy world, exhibited in Hong Kong, which is the first event of such magnitude for our work in Asia. We hope that our collection can spread a message of harmony and joy – the ingredients of life needed in every corner of the world at this time. This collection features a family of brightly colored figures, including the main character Little Cloud who will be transformed into a huge inflatable sculpture and will welcome the public in Art Park in the West Kowloon Cultural District; and other characters including Rainbow Worm, Jelly, Hug Bug and Peanut Butter. The group will travel through Hong Kong while sharing their friendship and love and connecting with people from all walks of life. ”
