CCAT to Host Hungry Artists Sale | Community

The Chisholm Trail Arts Council (CTAC) hosts a plethora of events in June and July, one of which is known as the “Starving Artist Sale” for CTAC members.

Darcy Reeves, Executive Director, said the sale provides a venue for CCAT members to sell artwork. According to Reeves, the sale will feature the works of current and renewing CCAT members, giving them the opportunity to exhibit artwork at the CCAT Art Gallery in June and July.

“Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis for those wishing to hang up to five works of art on the first floor of the gallery,” she said. “There will be no opening reception for this exhibition and we encourage all artists to help promote their artwork themselves at a reduced price.”

Reeves said it was a way to help artists clear out their inventory and introduce themselves to new clients.

“The intention is to help provide a place for them to ‘clear’ some of their works and help them reduce their personal inventory,” Reeves said. “Last year we had quite a successful sale for many of our artists and we were happy that we were able to provide a venue for them to promote their work. This is a nice benefit for our members who are artists.

Artists can begin hanging their artwork on May 30, with the gallery opening May 31 and running through July 29.

All artwork submitted must be ready to hang on the wire and artists will hang their own work.
