LaCueva recording studio for sale

The LaCueva recording studio in the hinterland of Byron Bay is for sale.

It was installed in Tyagarah, 15 minutes from Byron Bay in 2015 by Bernard Fanning and producer Nick DiDia, integrated into the self-contained pool house with separate entrance and parking.

The studio’s advertising blurb emphasizes its relaxed vibe with “panoramic ocean views across a vast nature reserve to the headland and lighthouse, huge windows and high ceilings paired with world class recording”.

It has an open control room design with abundant natural light, sloped ceilings and solid concrete flooring, a 4×5 meter drum/iso room, individual amplifier isolation boxes and dimmer simulators. reactive load cabinet for guitar and bass amps.

It has been listed by Christian Sergiacomi and Brad Cranfield of Pacifico Property who are looking for offers by June 30.

New recruits

mushroom music added Kerryn Tolhurst (The Dingoes) and Rick Brewster and John Brewster (The Angels) to its roster, and extended deals with David McComb (The Triffids), Greg Macainsh (Skyhooks), Peter Farnan (Boom Crash Opera), Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool/ Mondo Rock), Russell Morris, Shane Howard (Goanna) and Suze DeMarchi (Baby Animals).

Kasumuen Records is the new label of Ron Peno Superstitions/Silver Ray guitarist Cam Butler, “renowned for his expansive Modern Classical and Morricone compositions”.

AIR Awards Label Nominations

ABC Music, I OH YOU, Ivy League, MGM and Milk are up for Independent Label of the Year 2022 at the AIR Awards! Folders.

The winner is revealed at the invitation-only awards show on Thursday August 4 at the Freemasons Hall in Adelaide in conjunction with Indie-Con Australia.

Brunswick Ballroom Expands

The Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne has increased its capacity from 293 to 468. “This means we can attract more and more national and international heavyweights to the ballroom,” said venue manager Will Ewing.

Tomboi for women, POC and LGBTQIA+ acts

Naarm/Melbourne-based new label Tomboi Records only signs female, LGBTQIA+ and POC (people of color) artists.

The team consists of performer and producer Alexis Benedict (founder/CEO), artist manager Tim Youngson (A&R/label development/international relations) and global producer and mixer Lee Groves (executive producer).

Will the global music industry be worth $53.2 billion by 2030?

Goldman Sachs has reassessed its forecast for the global music industry.

In the latest edition of its annual report music in the air report, he estimates it will be worth US$53.2 billion by 2030, not US$45.7 billion as originally thought.

This is despite macroeconomic trends such as inflation, rising interest rates and energy prices.

That would mean it would be more than double the $25.9 billion valued by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in 2021.

Goldman Sachs attributes the growth primarily to “higher paid streaming ARPU (average revenue per user) and ad-supported streaming assumptions as well as a lower decline in physical sales.”

It also increased its projected annual business revenue in music publishing from $10.6 billion to $11.6 billion in 2030 due to a ” [projected] streaming, physical and performance revenue.”

Music streaming is expected to reach $89.3 billion, with paid subscriptions at $55.6 billion and ad-supported at $33.7 billion.

The projection for the live music sector, $38.3 billion, remains as initially projected.

New platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, video games and podcasts will account for 40% of music industry ad-supported revenue (vs. 30% currently) and 12% of global recorded music revenue vs. 5% in 2021.

Forecasts for 2022 have risen from $81.6 billion to $87.6 billion as crowds rush to events and music streaming increases during lockdown.

Spotify chief Daniel Ek told an investor meeting last week that his company could reach one billion users worldwide by 2030, even if MAU (monthly active user) growth stalls. in Latin America.

By then, “we can generate $100 billion in revenue per year, and we can achieve 40% gross margin and 20% operating margin.”

At the end of 2021, Spotify had 406 million MAUs, up 61% from the same period in 2020.

More APRA members hit one billion streams

WAM moves to Melville

After 30 years in Perth’s Northbridge, cutting-edge music association WA WAM has moved to the town of Melville to connect with its thriving arts scene.

His new home is on Applecross seafront within the grounds of Goolugatup Heathcote.

Recently Music NT relocated to the former courthouse in Alice Springs CBD, while the Arts NT office also relocated to the CBD, co-located with the National Aboriginal Art Gallery team in Alice Plaza , Mezzanine Floor, 36 Todd Mall.

Changing of the guard at Premier Guitars

Premier Guitars in Sydney’s North has a changing of the guard on July 1.

Singer-songwriter Adam Rennie takes over, intending to use his business degree for marketing without changing the business model.

The guitar and amp outlet was founded by John Spence, guitarist with bands including The Fargone Beauties, concert and event organizer and producer of the 13-part television series The Guitar Show.

He said, “While I’m still healthy, it’s time to travel again, relax a bit and play more music.”

Conference #1: 4ESydney

The 4ESydney hip hop conference has added more panels and speakers.

These include a conversation between K-SERA of radio station CADA 96.1 and the best-selling author of How to live for love and hip-hop Maxine Johns.

Australian artistic leader and creative voice of Indigenous youth, Dr Alethea Beetson will deliver a keynote examining the current structure of the music industry and his vision for dismantling it for growth, then with rapper DOBBY will discuss the power of insurrection and resurgence among First Nations artists.

4ESydney will take place on Friday June 24 and Saturday June 25 at the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre.

Conference #2: BIGSOUND

The first round of keynote speakers for BIGSOUND (September 6-9) includes #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, viral “Friday” star Rebecca Black, Mushroom Group CEO Matt Gudinski, Jaguar Jonze and electronic artist British Example, based in Brisbane.

Speakers include Annabelle Herd, CEO of ARIA, Andrew Stone of Chugg Music, Heidi Lenffer of green FEAT. (Future Energy Artists), Cloud Control, AMP winner, Johann Ponniah of I OH YOU, John Mullen of Dew Process and a host of UK agents and promoters.

QMusic, producer of the event, expects 16,000 attendees and 1,500 delegates.
