Artcurial’s upcoming July sale celebrates women’s timepieces – JCK

July 19, French auction house Artcurial will hold a sale highlighting women’s timepieces called Time Is Female (or Time is feminine). “Our July auction spans over a century of jewelry history, with treasures of late 19th century craftsmanship, one-of-a-kind pieces from the prized Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras. , and dazzling creations from the 1940s and 1960s, which have become increasingly collectible”, the head of Artcurial’s jewelery department, Julie Valade, says JCK. “Demand for rare diamonds and gemstones remains strong, and we have a fantastic selection, led by a 17.5-carat emerald-cut D-color diamond.”

Part of Artcurial’s series of Monaco sales which run from July 15-21, this particular segment is dedicated to women’s items and includes a yellow gold Duoplan watch (estimate: $5,100 to $7,100) by Jaeger LeCoultre (top); a yellow gold, a sapphire and an emerald secret watch by Omega, circa 1964 (estimate $16,000-$21,000); and Nautilus (estimate $13,000 to $19,000) and Aquanaut (estimate $10,000 to $15,000) Patek Philippe models.

“Artcurial was the first auction house to dedicate its sales to collector’s watches for women in 2018. Since then, our biannual Time Is Feminine sales have multiplied,” explains Marie Sanna-Legrand, director of the Artcurial watch department. . “This season, we exceptionally have two auctions dedicated to high-quality women’s watches, one of them presenting a remarkable unique collection of 80 very rare watches not seen for more than four decades. Ladies’ watch collections are extremely rare, but a collection of this size and quality, including so many rare examples, is unheard of. It’s a real “treasure” sale.

Coinciding with the sale, Artcurial will also host another women-centric auction, the Sparkling Collection, focusing on rare fine jewelry.
