Art sale to be held in Newport as part of Pride celebrations
A Pride Art Fair will take place on Sunday from 10am-3pm at Novella Craft and Cocktails in the High Street.
It was organized by Newport’s LGBTQ Society and will also see art prints, gemstone jewelry, badges and pins for sale.
The company’s Lorna Cowley said: “We wanted to give people the opportunity to sell their work and give them a platform. We know it can be difficult for small creators when starting a business.
“We want to have a colorful and vibrant market full of interesting things, so I think that will be good. I hope people come out and we have our lovely committee members on the high street to let people know.”
The company has been involved in a host of events in the city this month including the carnival and they also held a quiz.
A Stonewall fundraiser will be held on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Newport Square.
The Newport Pride Extravaganza takes place on Saturday evenings from 10:30 p.m. in the Main Street central square, with DJ Harry Hancock.
“Each event we’ve held this month has reached different audiences, young and old,” Lorna said. “A lot of people wanted to see what we were doing, which is lovely. A lot of people said it’s about time we had an LGBTQ society in town, so that’s really nice.”
